Endourology Skills

  1. Supine PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy):

    • Supine PCNL is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove kidney stones. In this technique, the patient lies on their back, and a percutaneous access is created through the skin into the kidney. A nephroscope is then inserted to visualize and remove stones or fragments, typically using laser energy or other tools.
  2. Laser Prostate Surgery – THULEP (Transurethral Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) and HOLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate):

    • THULEP and HOLEP are advanced laser techniques for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate. During these procedures, a laser is used to precisely enucleate or remove excess prostate tissue that is causing urinary obstruction. This results in improved urine flow and relief of BPH symptoms.
  3. Flexi URS (RIRS – Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery):

    • Flexi URS, or RIRS, is a minimally invasive procedure for treating kidney stones located within the renal pelvis and calyces. A flexible ureteroscope is introduced through the urethra and bladder, guided up to the kidney. Laser energy is then used to fragment and remove the stones, without the need for external incisions.
  4. Cystoscopy:

    • Endoscopic procedure using a thin tube with a camera to examine the interior of the bladder and urethra.
  5. Cystolithotripsy:

    • Minimally invasive technique for breaking down bladder stones using shock waves or laser energy.
  6. Optical urethrotomy (cold knife and laser):

    • Surgical intervention to treat urethral strictures using either traditional cutting tools or laser energy.
  7. Suprapubic cystolithotripsy:

    • Stone fragmentation in the bladder through a small incision in the abdominal wall, typically for larger or complex stones.
  8. TURP (Monopolar, channel, and bipolar):

    • Transurethral resection of the prostate, a common surgical procedure for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using different energy sources.
  9. TURBT (electro cautery and laser):

    • Transurethral resection of bladder tumors, involving the removal of abnormal bladder tissue using electrical or laser-based methods.
  10. BNI (Bladder Neck Incision):

    • Surgical procedure to alleviate bladder outlet obstruction by making an incision in the bladder neck.
  11. URSL (pneumatic lithotripsy and laser):

    • Ureteroscopic stone lithotripsy, a minimally invasive procedure for breaking up stones in the ureter using pneumatic energy or laser technology.
